The commune of Sanem has 17,965 inhabitants and comprises 4 localities: Belvaux, Soleuvre, Sanem and Ehlerange.
If, at the beginning of the 19th century, the population of the four villages still relied mainly on agriculture, the discovery of the “Minette” changed everything. With the end of steelmaking activity in the part of Belval belonging to the Municipality of Sanem and the establishment of the university, new development prospects have opened up for the years to come.
As part of Esch2022, the 'loop - down the hills, accross the land' project showcases the municipality's desire to enhance the territory nestled between the industrial heritage, which has shaped the south of Luxembourg and nature, which abounds throughout the four localities that constitute it.
