Dudelange, formerly reknowned as the "Forge du sud", has more than 21,000 inhabitants (the fourth largest city in the country) with a proportion of foreigners of more than 40% of the local population. Bringing together people form more than 100 different nationalities, the city is a fine example of a successful multicultural community. It has been able to successfully redeploy its economy which has developed in the direction of diversification, while keeping its industrial and commercial character.
The cultural effort provided by the City of Dudelange has been exceptional over the past twenty years with its Regional Cultural Center opderschmelz, its art galleries and the Documentation Center on Human Migrations.
